The coronavirus situation in India remains grim. India on Saturday saw 4,01,993 fresh cases in a span of 24 hours, the highest single-day rise so far. The country also registered 3,523 fatalities, taking the death toll in the country to 2,11,853. India, a country of nearly 1.4 billion people, is the fourth to cross 200,000 deaths due to Covid-19 infection, behind the United States, Brazil and Mexico. Meanwhile, the third phase of the vaccination drive for those between 18 and 45 also starts today.
