TCS reached the five lakh workforce milestone after it added 20,409 more employees in the first three months of 2021-22, marking its highest quarterly hiring.
TCS said, “The workforce continues to be very diverse, comprising 155 nationalities and with women making up 36.2 per cent of the workforce.”
The company also said that the employees logged over 10 million learning hours in the first quarter and at least 4,78,000 employees have been trained in Agile methods and over 4,07,000 workers have been trained on multiple new technologies.
TCS said its IT Services attrition rate in the last 12 months was at 8.6 per cent, which is the lowest in the industry.
TCS announced a 29 per cent year-on-year jump in quarterly profit during Q1 of FY22. The company said profits were driven by higher demand from businesses that ramped up digital services during the Covid-19 outbreak.
The company’s net profit rose to Rs 9,008 crore in the first quarter from Rs 7,008 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Its revenue from operations jumped 18.5 per cent Rs 45,411 crore and operating margin improved to 25.5 per cent. The company has also announced an interim dividend of Rs 7 per share.
