Uttar Pradesh government has decided to shut down all the schools and coaching institutes in the state due to the rise in Covid-19 cases.
The government of Uttar Pradesh has ordered the closure of all the schools and coaching centres in the state due to the sudden spike in Covid-19 cases across the state. The schools have been closed for all the students of classes 1 to 12 since yesterday.
The schools and coaching institutes in the state will remain closed till May 10, and all the classes and academic activities will be conducted online. All the government, government-aided and private schools in Uttar Pradesh have been ordered to shut down.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made the announcement on Twitter, and said, “In view of COVID-19, all schools from Class 1 to Class 12 will remain closed till May 10. Coaching institutions will also be closed and online classes should also be suspended.”
Earlier, the government of Uttar Pradesh announced the closure of schools in the state till April 30, but now it has been extended due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in the state. Schools will only reopen once the Covid-19 situation is better in the state.
UP teachers to work from home
The government of Uttar Pradesh had given the permission to teachers in government schools to work from home during these uncertain times. The teachers in government schools have been allowed to work from home till May 20, as per the order.
Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Minister Satish Dwivedi took to Twitter and said, “In view of the current situation of COVID-19, all teachers and teachers of Kasturba Gandhi girls school will be allowed to work from home by May 20, 2021.”
The Uttar Pradesh board exams have also been postponed and now will be conducted in May 2021. Students are urging the state government to postpone the exams further due to the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
The government of UP has also decided to postpone the college and university exams in the state till May 15. Exams will only be conducted once the Covid-19 situation in the state is reviewed by concerned authorities.
