2 die after major gas leak at IFFCO plant in UP’s Prayagraj, 15 hospitalised

 Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident happened due to a pipe leak. While the gas leak has been contained, work is now underway to provide relief to affected workers.

Amajor ammonia gas leak accident late on Tuesday night at the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited's (IFFCO) Phulpur unit in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj has claimed two lives and at least 15 people have been hospitalised.

The two dead employees have been identified as VP Singh and Abhyanandan Kumar. While 15 have been hospitalised as of now, there are chances that the number may increase. Prayagraj DM Bhanu Chandra Goswami said the gas leakage has been stopped and the plant unit has been closed temporarily.
