Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the 594-km long Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. While addressing the event, PM Modi raised slogans of "UP plus Yogi 'bahut hai upyogi" while lashing out at previous Uttar Pradesh governments.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the 594-km long Ganga Expressway in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
Addressing the crowd at the foundation laying ceremony, PM Modi said that the Ganga Expressway will bring "infinite opportunities" for everyone, including farmers and youth.
"This expressway will open doors for Uttar Pradesh's development. It will also bring numerous jobs and several new opportunities for thousands of youth," PM Modi said.
"I congratulate everyone in Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj. Over Rs 36,000 crore will be spent on this approximately 600-km long expressway. Ganga Expressway will bring new industries in this region," PM Modi said.
"That day is not far when Uttar Pradesh will be identified as the most modern state with next-generation infrastructure. The network of expressways in UP, the new airports being built, new rail routes being laid down are bringing several blessings to people of UP simultaneously," PM Modi said.
"The modern infrastructure coming up in UP today shows how resources are utilised. You have seen how public's money was used earlier. But today, UP's money is being used for UP's development," PM Modi said.
PM Modi targets Opposition
In his speech, PM Modi targeted the Opposition and the previous governments in Uttar Pradesh, saying only a few benefited [from the schemes] earlier.
PM Modi said that earlier, "only a section of people benefited and now everyone gets a chance to avail the benefits." He said that now, the government's focus is on "sabka sath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas, sabka prayas".
PM Modi said there have been some political parties that have problems with the country's 'vikas [development] and virasat [heritage]'.
"They have problems with the heritage because they are more concerned about vote banks...," PM Modi said.
"UP + Yogi bohot hai upyogi"
PM Modi went on to laud the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh and raised slogans of "UP + Yogi bohot hai upyogi" -- meaning Yogi Adityanath's government in Uttar Pradesh is of great utility.
"People now say UP plus Yogi bahut hai upyogi," PM Modi said at rally in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur.
