According to ET report, India’s largest IT services provider company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has asked employees to return to their “deputed location (base branch)” by November 15, 2021, which is the coming Monday.
The company had said in a statement last month, “We’re preparing employees in the country to start working from offices but it would be a calibrated move that will take into consideration employee health and safety.”
According to last month’s statement, 70% of TCS employees are fully vaccinated and over 95% getting at least one shot.
Now the numbers should have reached 100% employee vaccination at least with a single dose?
The company has added 19,690 employees in Q2FY22 and the total headcount reached 528,748 as of September 30.
The company’s decision to ask its employees to return to their base branches was through an official communication sent earlier this week by Milind Lakkad, Global Head-HR, TCS.
Currently, about 5% of its employees are working from offices, and 95% of employees are working from Home/Anywhere, the company had said in October.
TCS Safe Workplace
According to TCS website note, “As employees prepare to return to office after months of working from home, organizations must transform their workplaces to create a purpose-led and adaptable enterprise. They require a comprehensive plan for safety, security, and basic health needs of employees guided by empathy, engagement, and empowerment,”
“To ensure workplace safety that employees can trust, organizations will need to monitor their return-to-work readiness in real-time, support data-driven decisions, and communicate more effectively.” It added.
“TCS Safe Workplace ensures a smooth workplace transition by monitoring the key criteria that assure a safe and secure workplace, and productive environment.” It further said.
“It helps minimize the complexities involved in redefining safety protocols to maintain social distancing. Equipped with an overarching deployment methodology and a strong integration layer, the solution offers end-to-end services across advisory, design, implementation, and support.” TCS further added.
TCS 25/25 Model
According to the company statement, “Around the end of this year, we will encourage our employees to return back to offices, at least initially, before we switch to the 25/25 model. The whole process will be done in a phased and flexible manner and will depend on respective team leaders and the requirements of each team/ project,”
“We’re committed to the 25/ 25 model, but before transitioning to the model we need to start by getting people back to office and gradually evolve to 25/25.” the company said in a statement.
In 2020, the company had said that it would move to the 25/25 model, according to which it expects to have only 25% of its employees working from the company’s premises by 2025. The rest of the employees are expected to work remotely.
“Hybrid models of work are here to stay. In the new ‘Future Of Work’, both the physical office and remote working will play an integral part. Eventually, everybody will have to come to office for a period and at the same time, they will have the flexibility to work from home.” the company said.
