Bihar Election 2020 Live Updates: BJP promises free covid vaccination in Bihar; 19 lakh jobs in poll manifesto

Bihar Assembly Election 2020 Live News Updates: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Sanjay Jaiswal are scheduled to address the public in Badh, Nokha and Aurangabad.

Bihar elections LIVE updates: Polling in Bihar is scheduled to begin from October 28.

Bihar Assembly Election 2020 Live Updates: In their manifesto, the BJP promised free coronavirus vaccine, 19 lakh jobs among other things in Bihar. Presenting the saffron party’s manifesto, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the party believes in “fulfilling poll promises.” “Bihar’s growth will be an integral part of India’s growth,” she said, requesting voters to extend support to the NDA chief ministerial candidate Nitish Kumar.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is scheduled to hold five rallies — one in Siwan and two each in Muzaffarpur and Samastipur. While RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav will address 12 rallies again — one in Rohtas, four each in Kaimur and Buxar and three in Bhojpur. Also, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Sanjay Jaiswal are scheduled to address the public in Badh, Nokha and Aurangabad. Other rallies which are lined up today are by Nityanand Rai, Mukesh Sahni, Manoj Tiwari, Raghubar Das, Babulal Marandi and others.

The Congress and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) released their respective manifestos for the Bihar Assembly elections Wednesday. While the Congress manifesto focused on loan waivers for farmers and passing legislations to reject the farm laws passed by the Parliament, the LJP played its ‘Bihar first, Bihari first’ card by promising jobs to youth and increasing enterprises in the state.

One of the main pillars of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s sushasan or good governance plank is that he ended the Lalu Prasad government’s goonda raj. A comparison of the crime data from various government sources since 2004 shows that cases of murder have indeed fallen significantly in the three terms of Nitish, as have kidnappings for ransom, equated with the RJD reign.

Voting for 243 assembly seats in the state will be held on October 28, November 3 and November 7 and results will be announced on November 10.
