Solapur, September 2: Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Sunday, September 1, made a scathing attack at the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). "The BJP door is not completely open,” said Shah adding that if he does that, then only Sharad Pawar and Prithviraj Chavan will be left in NCP and Congress. Addressing a public rally Maharashtra's Solapur, the union minister said, "If the BJP opens its door completely, except Sharad Pawar and Prithviraj Chavan, no one will remain in their respective parties." Speaking at the second phase of Mahajanadesh yatra, Shah also endorsed Devendra Fadnavis as Maharashtra's Chief Minister candidate. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena would fight October polls together.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi, Shah said, "Rahul Gandhi gave a statement that BJP didn't do any good by abrogating Article 370, he said violence is happening in Kashmir. Since abrogation of Article 370, not a single bullet or tear gas has been fired in Kashmir, not a single person has died."

Meanwhile, ahead of Maharashtra assembly elections 2019, three leaders of Congress and NCP joined the ruling party. Former cabinet minister Rana Jagjitsinh Patil and former MP Dhananjay Mahadik parted ways with NCP and joined the saffron party. Congress MLA Jaykumar Gore also formally joined the BJP.
