In his speech during the inauguration of Mahakumbh at Sardar Patel stadium, PM Narendra Modi hailed the players for their efforts and hardwork.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 11th Khel Mahakumbh at Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Addressing the players in the stadium, PM Modi said, "Due to Corona, the Khel Mahakumbh was banned for two years. But the grandeur with which chief minister Bhupendrabhai Patel started this event filled the young players with renewed vigor."
The PM added, "I remember starting Khel Mahakumbh 12 years back in 2010, as the chief minister of Gujarat. It was like sowing the seeds of a dream for me. Today I see that seed taking the shape of such a huge banyan tree."
The PM said, "Just like politics, nepotism also prevailed in the sports world years back. A lack of transparency in the selection of players was also a big factor. Coming out of that constant loop of problems, the youngsters of India are touching the sky today."
PM Modi added, "The glow of gold and silver is shining in the confidence of the nation. India won seven medals for the first time in the Olympics. The same record was made by the sons and daughters of India at the Tokyo Paralympics as well. This is only the beginning. India is neither going to stop nor is it going to get tired."
"From 'Startup India' to 'Stand Up India', from 'Make in India' to 'Vocal for Local', the youth of India have taken responsibility for every campaign of New India. Our young generation has proved India's potential, the PM said.
'No shortcut to success'
PM Modi advised the youngsters to "never look for any shortcut to success."
"There is only one mantra for success - long-term planning, and continuous commitment. Neither a victory can ever be our last stop, nor a defeat," the PM said.
Speaking further about the talent in the country, the PM said, "We have started recognising the talents in our country and are giving them all the necessary support. Despite having talent, our youth used to lag due to a lack of training. However, today the best training facilities are being given to the players."
