In Uttarakhand, now preparations have started to open degree colleges along with technical educational institutions. Special attention will be given to protecting students and staff against Covid-19.

All engineering colleges and vocational educational institutions affiliated to Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technological University will open from August 23 for offline studies. At the same time, the government has issued orders to open all state universities and degree colleges related to higher education from September 1.

Who issued the orders?

Technical Education Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for opening all colleges affiliated to the university.

In another order, Higher Education Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi issued orders to open all the universities and degree colleges of the state for new admission process from September 1.

New session begins from September 1

According to the guidelines of the UGC, the state government has decided to start the admission process from September 1 and start a new academic session from October 1.

On Thursday, SOPs have also been issued to the vice-chancellors of all government and private universities, all the district magistrates, and the director of higher education to follow the Covid-19 safety standards.

In both the orders, instructions have been given to make arrangements to make students sit at a distance of six feet in the classes as per the SOPs for educational institutions.

Vaccination instructions

The National Service Scheme unit and NCC unit in the colleges have been instructed to conduct awareness campaigns to protect against Covid-19.

Instructions have been given to provide Covid-19 vaccination to all educational and non-teaching personnel. For Covid-19 safety, social distancing, sanitization, noting symptoms of cough and fever, etc. would need to be compulsorily followed as per the guidelines.

The requirement of negative Covid-19 report for the students who have taken two doses of the vaccine has been done away with whereas it will be mandatory for everyone else to bring the negative report.

Simultaneously, hostel operation is also being started and the same safety conditions will be applicable here as well. If any student's temperature is found to be high or if any symptoms of cold, headache, or fever are seen, the student would be sent back home immediately.
