‘Not scared': BJP chief JP Nadda condemns Union minister Narayan Rane's arrest

Hours after Union Minister Narayan Rane was arrested for his controversial remarks against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, BJP national president JP Nadda said the proceedings are a violation of constitutional values.

"The arrest of Union Minister Narayan Rane by the Maharashtra government is a violation of constitutional values. We will neither be scared nor suppressed by such action," he said in a tweet in Hindi.

"These people are troubled by the immense support the BJP is getting for the Jan Ashirvad Yatra. We will continue to fight democratically, the journey will continue," he added.

Narayan Rane is now being taken to Raigad in connection with a case registered against him in Mahad over his controversial remarks against Uddhav Thackeray in which he said he would slap the chief minister.

A fourth FIR has also been registered against Rane at the Naupada police station in Thane West.
