Budget 2021-22: What gets costlier and what gets cheaper

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2021 on Monday, February 1, 2021.

Take a look at what’s costlier and what is cheaper after the finance minister’s proposals:

WHAT IS MORE EXPENSIVE:

  • Mobiles phones

  • Cess imposed on Petrol and Diesel. However, the good news is that prices for petrol and diesel won't change because or reduction in other duties.

  • Electronics items

  • Chargers

  • Alcoholic beverages

  • Crude palm oil

  • Crude soyabean, sunflower oil

  • Gems

  • Pulses

  • Specified fertilisers (Urea)

  • Auto parts

  • Apples

  • Coal, ignite, and peat

  • Peas

  • Kabuli chana

  • Bengal gram/chick peas

  • lentil (mosur)

  • Cotton (not carded or combed)

WHAT IS CHEAPER:

  • Gold

  • Silver. The custom duty on gold and silver will be rationalised to bring them closer to previous levels. This will reduce the prices of the precious metals.

  • Iron

  • Steel

  • Leather goods

  • Nylon clothes

  • Copper items

  • Insurance

  • Electricity

  • Shoes
