Age no bar! 80-year-old Ujjain woman completes her PhD in Sanskrit

Ujjain's Sasikala Rawal has proved that age is just a number as she received her degree in PhD Sanskrit at the age of 80.

Ujjain: There is no age for learning. Sasikala Rawal of Ujjain has proved this true as she recently completed PhD in Sanskrit at the age of 80. Sasikala received her degree in PhD after retiring from the education department as a lecturer.

Sasikala retired from the state government's education department as a lecturer. After studying MA in Astrology from 2009 to 2011, she did not stop learning. She decided to pursue a PhD in Varahamihira's astrological treatise 'Brihat Samhita' in Sanskrit. She successfully completed her PhD in 2019.

She earned the degree of Doctor of Philosophy on the subject 'Social life as seen through the mirror of Brihat Samhita,' under the guidance of Mithila Prasad Tripathi, former Vice-Chancellor of Maharishi Panini University, IANS reported.

When Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel awarded the degree to Sasikala, she was pleasantly surprised and praised the elderly woman's courage and determination.

Sasikala has always been interested in astrology and she took admission in MA Astrology offered by Vikram University because of her passion for the course. She said that her thinking received a different direction from studying astrology. Just like maps, astrology helps us reach our destination. Reading the signs of astrology helps face challenges.

She said that it is easier to navigate life if you assess the types of challenges in life in advance. She added that she would like to use her knowledge in the public interest.
