Bihar Assembly Election Result 2020, Bihar Vidhan Sabha Election Result 2020 Today Live News Updates: Will Nitish Kumar stay as Bihar chief minister or the state will see RJD returning to power? This will be known in a few hours from now as the results to the 243-member legislative assembly will be declared on Tuesday.
Bihar Election Results 2020 Live Updates: After an initial scare, the trends now show the NDA has moved ahead of the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan, crossing the half-way mark of 122 seats needed to secure majority in Bihar Assembly. Although there is still time for the final results, with several rounds of counting of votes left, there are strong indications that the ruling NDA may retain power with BJP winning more seats than JD(U). Significantly, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party looks set to improve its tally and is leading on more numbers of seats than last time. LJP and other smaller parties may hold the key in the government formation if the NDA falls short of the half-way mark. Most exit polls had given the RJD-Congress-Left alliance a clear edge over the JD(U)-BJP coalition and has predicted that the ruling government was on its way out.
It was in fact the RJD, which party leaders had thought would win 90 seats, was underperforming, according to the early trends, with the counting putting it in the lead in only 65 seats. RJD leaders said the numbers were misleading as the counting was slower due to the Election Commission setting up a higher number of polling booths because of Covid-19
The JD(U) conceded defeat early on. “We welcome people’s decision. We were not defeated by RJD or Tejashwi Yadav but nation’s curse (Covid). We are trailing only because of Covid. We are paying for past 70 years of deterioration in Bihar,” party spokesperson KC Tyagi told ANI.

The fate of the Nitish-led JD(U) government, which has helmed Bihar for a decade and a half, will be decided on Tuesday as election results to the 243-member legislative assembly will be declared. The counting of votes began at 8 am at 55 centres across 38 districts.
The results will decide if the voters have decided to hand over the state’s baton to the Grand alliance (Mahagathbandhan) led by its CM candidate Tejashwi Yadav, which constitutes the RJD, the Congress and Left parties.
