The morning after Diwali, Delhiites witnessed a thick, pungent haze that had enveloped the city. Over the next few days, the AQI kept on increasing, and as on 1st November, Friday, the air quality is at its worst. Read on to find out more about the city’s silent killer!
The Capital Cloaked In A Grey Haze | With the rise in the pollution levels, the AQI in Delhi has increased to 459, entering the ‘severe plus’ or ‘emergency’ category. Some of the most polluted areas in Delhi are Bawana, DTU, Wazirpur, Anand Vihar, Greater Noida, Noida & Faridabad. The unfavourable weather conditions and low wind speed is adding up to the severity of the situation. However, slight weather changes from Saturday may help with decreasing the pollutants.
With the respiratory issues on a rise, breathing the city’s air is equivalent to smoking a cigarette. If the air quality remains unchanged in the next 48 hours, actions like banning the entry of trucks, construction activities, and shutting down of schools, will take place.
Avoid morning & evening walks, fill up your house with indoor plants, and avoid going outdoors unless absolutely necessary. People are opting for pollution masks and the number keeps growing each day. We can only hope for some warm, breezy, and clear days ahead!
