Mumbai Doctor Seeks Ban on Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Kabir Singh’

After being called out for promoting toxic masculinity and misogyny by several critics, Shahid Kapoor’s latest release Kabir Singh is now facing the heat from members of the medical community. According to reports, a Mumbai-based doctor has filed a complaint against the makers of Kabir Singh for showing doctors in a bad light. In the film, Shahid’s character is show as a heartbroken doctor who is alcoholic, abusive and also takes drugs. He is also shown to perform surgeries under the influence of alcohol. Taking offence to this kind of a negative portrayal, the doctor has reportedly written a letter to the central Health Minister, Information and Broadcasting Ministry, State Health Ministry, and the Central Board of Film Certification to stop the screening of Kabir Singh.
Meanwhile, Kabir Singh continues to have a successful run at the box-office. The film, a remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy has already earned over Rs 88 crore at ticket windows in India.
According to estimates, Kabir Singh could be Shahid Kapoor’s biggest hit till date and could also overtake this year’s biggest money spinner so far, Uri.
